What is an overbite?

Overbite is one of the most common deviations in adults. This occurs when the upper jaw is positioned further forward than the lower jaw. It causes your teeth and molars not to align properly. It's important to know it can be corrected discreetly. Impress's clear aligners are unobtrusive and relatively comfortable.

OVERBITE CORRECTION

There is a spectrum of ways overbites can present themselves, from mild to severe. You can find out more about the type of overbite you might have below and the medical classifications.

Mild Overbite

Usually from dental causes with a range of space between 2-4mm is typically considered normal and doesn't generally require surgery or adjustment.

Deep overbite

Spaces between the upper and lower teeth when a dentist classifies someone with a deep bite are between 4-6mm.

Is an overbite bad?

An overbite of 1-3mm is considered normal, but 4mm or more is considered a severe overbite which can be bad for long term oral health and lead to tooth erosion and gum damage.
